When every minute counts, M.A.I.K® delivers rapid clarity. This mobile test kit enables the sensitive detection of substances that inhibit the human enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE), including nerve agents as well as numerous organophosphate and carbamate pesticides.

Based on a method developed by the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), M.A.I.K® was designed for rapid on-site deployment. In addition to skin, a wide range of other surfaces such as metal, glass, and painted materials can be sampled directly. Results are available in as little as three minutes, without the need for complex laboratory equipment.

How M.A.I.K® Works
M.A.I.K® is based on an enzymatic color reaction using human AChE. After sampling, the sample is transferred into a test tube containing the reaction solution together with human AChE and specific reagents. If no AChE-inhibiting substances are present, an intense yellow colour develops. If an AChE inhibitor is present, the enzymatic reaction is inhibited and the solution remains colourless. This allows contamination to be detected quickly and easily.

M.A.I.K® combines mobility, speed, and high sensitivity in a compact test system that is readily available whenever needed for the on-site detection of AChE-inhibiting substances, including nerve agents.
