The PD-600 powder measurement system from Nittoseiko Analytech enables the precise determination of the specific electrical resistivity of powdered materials under a defined pressing force, thereby providing a vital basis for material development, quality assurance and research.

The system compacts the material sample using a controlled compressive force of up to 20 kN and measures the specific resistance as a function of compaction. This enables the electrical properties of materials to be investigated in a reproducible manner and allows different powders, material compositions or batches to be compared with one another.

Typical applications include graphite, carbon black, carbon fibres and other carbon materials, metallic powders and electrically conductive additives. Conductivity and Resistance Measurement
Depending on the application, the Hiresta-UX, Loresta-GX II and Loresta-FX instruments can be used to determine surface resistance, volume resistance and resistivity.

The Hiresta-UX is designed for high-resistance materials in the range from 10³ to 10¹⁴ Ω. The Loresta-GX II covers the low-resistance range from 10⁻⁴ to 10⁷ Ω. For mobile measurement applications, the Loresta-FX provides a compact solution for resistance measurements from 10⁻² to 10⁶ Ω.

Typical test materials include plastics and compounds, coatings, films, ceramics, silicone, foams, carbon-fibre fabrics, printed conductive tracks, as well as other functional, electrically conductive or insulating materials.

Electrical Characterisation of Powders
For powdered materials, the PD-600 Powder Measurement System complements the portfolio. It enables the determination of the electrical resistivity of powders under a defined compression force ranging from 0.01 to 20 kN.

Materials that can be analysed include graphite, carbon black and other carbon-based materials, conductive additives, granules, metal powders and materials for battery electrodes. The relationship between compaction and electrical resistance can be systematically analysed and documented.
